The plants are exotic and the inhabitants are wondrous, well all of them except one. Goblins, otherwise known as brownies and in some cultures gnomes, also live within the Fairy Realm. Unlike the pretty fairies, goblins are more ghastly in appearance. Goblins are short in stature when compared to the majority of the walking mythical creatures. Unlike elves, who are said to be gorgeous than humans, goblins are more ugly looking than we are. They are also considerably stockier than most of the fairy creatures, which is how they are sometimes mistaken for rocks or dead tree trunks. What’s Kraken?Posted by Danielle Patterson, July 07, 2008 at 10:00 AM by Danielle Patterson There are many sea creatures out there in the deep blue waters that cover around seventy percent of the Earth, but none are as feared by the pirates of old as the Kraken. Every pirate tale speaks of the horrors these creatures impacted upon even the steadiest of galleons. They could smash a ship in half and send it sinking down into the deep with just a well aimed thrash of its tail. Krakens are the creatures that not only haunted the oceans but the dreams of those who sailed upon them. So what exactly is a Kraken? The Kraken is a sea creature that was about a mile wide. Due to its large size, the Kraken was often mistaken as an island. When sailors saw it they usually dropped anchor and went to what they thought was shore. The animal would lay there allowing the sailors to walk across it. It is only when they lit fires on it or punctured its skin that the creature began to move. It is mainly used to record the history of a civilization. This history includes, thoughts, ideals, ways of life, religion, values, instructions on the ways of life and also personal memoirs of the people who lived there. Since writing became part of school teachings many cultures contributed the art of writings to the gods, and often placed it under a god. These gods of course differed from culture to culture. In Egypt, the god Thot was given the privilege of reigning over the written word as well as being a moon god. In his free time, Thot was said to record the actions and history of the current king on a palm tree leaf. The reason for the palm leaf is that it represents time to the Egyptians. For a god to spend his spare time recording the life of a king puts a great emphasis on the importance of the king and on writing. Read Entire Post...
